Simply, you're going to need additional access points. The appeal of a wireless mesh network is that expansion is done by plugging in an additional access point and allowing it to 'locate' the assigned wireless network and aquire the characteristics of that network. Cabling and wiring becomes necessary when you're plugging into switches or you're trying to hide the access point in drop ceilings or have outside needs.
